Geography Biome Fieldwork, by Mrs Gill
Date: 26th Jan 2022 @ 10:30pm
Our Geography topic this half term is about Climates and biomes of the world. One of the biomes the children looked at this week has been our deciduous forest biome and the temperate climate. To understand the climate better we took a walk around the Woodland Walk and the school grounds, looking at the deciduous trees, how they change colour and lose their leaves based on which season it is, plants and animal life ( flora and fauna ) which may be living there too. They understood the reason that there wasn't much plant life was because of the Winter season and that the animals were hibernating.Although they did spot a few birds in the trees.
Geography biome fieldwork 3H, by Miss Healey
Date: 26th Jan 2022 @ 4:11pm
This half term we have been looking at climates and biomes of the world. This week we looked at our temperate climate and our deciduous forest biome. We looked at the deciduous trees (trees that change colour and lose their leaves based on the season) in our school grounds. We also looked at the signs we have for the flora (plant life) and fauna (animal life) and thought of reasons we may not have been able to spot many of these. We decided upon the weather, most of the animals would be hibernating this time of year and the plants will begin to grow in the Spring/Summer time - we linked this back to our climate being temperate. We did make sure we walked super quietly though and we managed to spot a few birds native to our climate! Take a look at some of our pictures.
