Delivering frogspawn to our pond! 3H 09.03.2021, by Miss Healey

Date: 9th Mar 2021 @ 2:33pm

Our science topic this half term is pond life and frog life cycles. We are very fortunate to have had a beautiful peaceful pond put into our school grounds recently. As it is such a new pond, there is no frogspawn in our pond yet. Luckily, Miss Healey lives near lots of small ponds that are teeming with frogspawn so she brought some in for us to put in our school pond! We visited during our Science lesson with clipboards and wrote down all the wonderful reasons a frog would want to live here and have their frogspawn here in the future. We then carefully released the frogspawn to their new home!

KS2 Christmas Production - Bah Humbug! - December 2019 , by Miss Hulse

Date: 18th Dec 2019 @ 10:04am

KS2 were amazing yesterday, in their Christmas production of Bah Humbug! A fantastic adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

It was Christmas Eve and the miserable, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, found himself visited by some rather unexpected characters! Through encounters with his former partner, Jacob Marley, and three very different ghosts, Scrooge was given the chance to revisit his past, weigh his present and glimpse at his future.

Scrooge took this once-in-a lifetime opportunity to change, and understood the true meaning of Christmas.

STEM day presentations - November 2019, by Miss Hulse

Date: 30th Nov 2019 @ 8:32am

Yesterday afternoon, all of the children at St Peter’s took part in a STEM day challenge. The children had to use all of their science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills to produce a working marble run. The degree of difficulty got progressively challenging throughout school years, starting with nursery creating a simple structure using Lego up to Year 6 introducing a pulley stystem. Once the marble runs were completed, each class held a vote to choose their most successful marble run, these were then sent to the hall ready to be judged. The winners were then selected from EYFS, KS1, LKS2 and UKS2, the winners then received their very own marble run. All of the children should be proud of their achievements, as they all worked extremely hard throughout the day!

Today we had a visitor who came in and told us the story of David and Goliath. We thought about how his brothers treated him and how we would not like to be treated that way. We looked at bullying and different ways people bully others and how we can stop this from happening. The children created some imaginative freeze-frames depicting bullying in different ways. We then talked about how to change the freeze-frames to stop the bullying. I was very impressed with the children’s creativity. Take a look at some of their freeze frames!
