Gymnastics!, by Miss Sheldon

This half term in gymnastics, the children practiced different stretching and curling movements. They worked hard to balance their bodies, move safely, and improve their coordination and flexibility.
The children showed great listening skills and really enjoyed trying the different gymnastics activities.
RE Workshop from Lucy!, by Miss Sheldon

Reception were lucky to receive a visit from Lucy, who led a wonderful RE workshop for the children. After listening carefully to a story, the children enjoyed making their own lions using different materials and lots of creativity.
The children had a fantastic time taking part in the activities and sharing their ideas throughout the workshop.

Reception had lots of fun making clay ladybirds. They used their hands carefully to roll, shape, and mould the clay before painting their ladybirds with bright colours and spots. The children were very creative and proud of their finished artwork, and it was lovely to see their different designs and ideas.
David Attenborough's Birthday!, by Miss Sheldon

This week we celebrated the birthday of David Attenborough and talked about his love of animals and nature. The children enjoyed creating their own iMovies and sharing their ideas with each other. We also took part in an online lesson all about polar bears, learning where they live and how they survive in the Arctic. To finish, we read a lovely story linked to our learning, and the children really enjoyed joining in with discussions and sharing their thoughts.
Reverend Pam Whole School Collective Worship, by Miss O'Regan

This morning, Reverend Pam led our collective worship all about our Christian Value for this half term, service. We learnt about different types of service and agape. Reverend Pam told us the story of Ruth and we explored how this showed service to others. We also looked at the modern day example of Mother Teresa and how she showed service to so many different people.
RHE: Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, by Mrs Perry

The session began in the hall, where the children had plenty of space to move freely as they explored the different ways their bodies can move. It started with an imaginative story about Freddy Teddy and Mollie the Cat going on a morning walk, during which the children acted out movements such as stretching, walking, jumping, and bending. This playful introduction helped them become more aware of their physical abilities in an engaging and enjoyable way. As the session continued, the children were encouraged to reflect on how special and unique their bodies are, recognising them as wonderful, God-given gifts.
Literacy in EYFS!, by Miss Sheldon

Last week the children were exploring alternative endings in Literacy by using their imagination to change the ending of the traditional tale, Jack and the Beanstalk. They discussed different ideas, developed their vocabulary, and worked hard to write what they could see in the picture. Well done Reception!

We planted tomato seeds today 🍅🌱
Just a few small seeds, some soil, and a sunny spot to get them started. Now we wait (and keep checking on them!) for the first little shoots to appear.

The children took part in a special assembly about Maundy Thursday, when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet. They learned how this act showed kindness, humility, and love for others. The story helped everyone understand the importance of caring for one another. It was a meaningful and reflective experience for all.

Year 1 had a fantastic time at the National Emergency Services Museum! We were able to learn lots of new and interesting information about the Great Fire of London. The children asked some excellent questions and had a super fun time.
Chicks in Reception!, by Mrs Perry

The children in Reception were lucky enough to have looked after chicks and watched them hatch from eggs. They saw how the chicks cracked their shells and came out into the world. The children helped care for them by making sure they had warmth, food, and water. They also learned about the chick life cycle and how the chicks grow and change each day.

We’ve been really enjoying our music scheme “Shabang”! The children have especially loved the sensory experience, exploring different sounds, singing together, and using a variety of fun props.
It’s been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and creativity grow each session, with lots of smiles and engagement from everyone involved. We’re looking forward to many more musical moments ahead!

This week, we have been learning about Palm Sunday and its importance in the Easter story. The children enjoyed making their own palm leaves and using them as we talked about Jesus’ journey into Jerusalem.
We explored the story further through our tuff trays and had lots of fun retelling it on the stage using instruments on the stage to add sound and expression. The children also shared their thoughts by writing simple prayers and creating signs of Easter in the playdough.
It has been a lovely week of creativity, reflection, and storytelling as the children deepened their understanding of this special time.
Dance in Reception!, by Miss Sheldon

In PE this term, we have been exploring dance through movement and imagination. The children have loved moving like different animals, using their bodies to express a range of actions and emotions.
We practised tiptoeing quietly, like sneaky animals, and stamping loudly like an “angry elephant.” The children also enjoyed freezing in different animal positions, showing great control and balance.
These activities have helped the children develop coordination, listening skills, and confidence in movement, all while having lots of fun being creative!
World Book Day Celebrations, by Miss Healey

We have had the best time celebrating World Book Day the past couple of weeks! We looked amazing in our costumes and also had a super time with our guest author Ian Bland. He was extremely funny and helped us write some amazing poetry of our own!

Today we were delighted to welcome the wonderful poet Ian Bland to our school. He performed and shared some of his fantastic poetry with the children before working with each year group to help them create their own poems.
The day was filled with creativity and laughter, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to explore poetry in such an engaging way. To finish the day, many pupils proudly showcased their poems during a special assembly. It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved.
Our 'Yayoi Kusama' inspired Art work, by Mrs Perry

We had to choose a troll design (linked to our 'Three Billy Goats Gruff' text) and then carefully trace the outline. We then used a cotton bud to create polka dots like our Artist ‘Yayoi Kusama’ we used brightly coloured paint to express ourselves and make each piece of art unique.

Year 1 had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day! They all made a fantastic effort with their costumes and really enjoyed working out who all the teachers were in the Masked Reader.
They also practiced their drawing skills and joined in a draw-along to create a very hungry caterpillar!

Happy World Book Day from Reception! 📚🌟
Today we had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day. We proudly showed off our amazing costumes, joined a special assembly, and spent time listening to lots of wonderful books - we even read to eachother!
Our class focus book was Elmer the Elephant, and we talked about how being unique and colourful makes us all special, just like Elmer. 🐘🌈
The children enjoyed lots of fun World Book Day activities in class, sharing stories together and celebrating our love of reading. What a brilliant day full of imagination, laughter, and books!
'Imagine That', by Mrs Perry

Our class had an amazing time on our trip to Imagine That!!! It was a fun-filled day of hands-on learning and creativity!
The children got to make their own slime and explore how bath bombs are made. We even created instant snow and learned about the science behind it. In the art area, everyone helped paint a large car and experimented with magnets to see how they work. They even got to decorate their own!
We also had lots of fun in the role play area, using our imaginations to act out different jobs and real-life situations. In the science area, students explored, tested ideas, and discovered new things together.
It was a wonderful day full of learning, laughter, and teamwork. The children were amazing and had a fantastic day!
