Anti-Bullying Week Drama work , by Mrs Cavill

On Monday morning Rhema Theatre company visited our Assembly. The actor told us the story of David and Goliath from the Bible. The story is about how little David was teased by his brothers for being small. David remained strong and didn’t give up eventually winning a major battle with the Philistine giant David and eventually becoming King of Israel.  We thoroughly enjoyed the performance and later that day 4C took part in a workshop about ways to support others when bullying happens.

On Friday 1st of November we had a special visitor in school to remind us of the importance of remembering heroes from the past and present. The chaplain of Rochdale talked to us about her job with the armed forces and the service that takes place in Rochdale town centre on Remembrance Sunday. Year 4, alongside the rest of the school, enjoyed listening to Margaret and learning a new song about Jesus the Superhero.

6H delivered our Year 6 worship this morning, based on our Christian value of Trust. The children told stories of how people trust in Jesus and when this happens we have true faith. We also discussed how trust is not alwayd easy but we must find a way.

This morning, 5N took part in an Anti-bullying workshop.  We discussed the different types of bullying, and how people feel when they are bullied.  The children took part in creating freeze frames to display different types of bullying.  We then discussed how we can help other children in these situations.

This morning Year 2 had an amazing time learning about anti-bullying through the story of David and Goliath. We discussed how David was treated by his brothers and how he might have felt. The children then created some freeze frames to show how David felt and how the bullys treated him. They then went on to expore the different people they could talk to if they are being bullied and how David might have felt after he spoke to someone about his bullies. Take a look at some of the children's brilliant freeze frames.

Today we had a visitor who came in and told us the story of David and Goliath. We thought about how his brothers treated him and how we would not like to be treated that way. We looked at bullying and different ways people bully others and how we can stop this from happening. The children created some imaginative freeze-frames depicting bullying in different ways. We then talked about how to change the freeze-frames to stop the bullying. I was very impressed with the children’s creativity. Take a look at some of their freeze frames!

This morning for Anti-Bullying Week, we were lucky enough to have an Anti-Bullying Drama, presented to the whole school, based on the story of ‘David & Goliath’ 1 Samuel 17. The children learnt about the story and discussed how David believed in himself and did not let the bullies win.

This morning, we were lucky enough to have Reverend Margaret Smith, Rochdale Town Chaplain, to deliver our collective worship. She spoke all about remembrance and the important of the body. The children were reflective and thought about the important of remembering those to have sadly died during wars.

On Thursday 17th October we performed our class assembly to the school and our parents all about Harvest. We learnt some Harvest songs and added actions to our performance. We shared examples of work we have done in RE learning all about the Christian festival of Harvest. It was lots of fun to perform our class assembly for the school and we hope you all enjoyd it! :)

In RE we have been learning all about Harvest, we listened to the story of Jesus Feeds the 5000 and discussed how important it is to share food with others. We then acted out the story, sharing some yummy bread! One of us pretended to be Jesus, and the rest of us were his disciples. 

During our reflection rtime we thanked God for everything we have.

Today, Year 5 have been working either in groups or on their own to research an inspirational leader.  They then created a poster all about them.
