Year 1 PE
Lesson: Physical education
Class: Year 1CW Year: 2025 - 2026
In Physical Education, the children have been developing a range of skills across dance, gymnastics and games. In dance, the focus has been “March, March, March,” where the children learned to march on the spot, forwards and backwards, working both independently and with a partner to keep in time with the music. They also explored movement through the theme of Jack and the Beanstalk, developing their ability to turn, jump and travel in a variety of ways. In gymnastics, the focus was on points and patches, with children learning to travel confidently and competently using different parts of the body, including their hands. They practised holding still balances and progressed from floor work to using apparatus. In outdoor PE games, the focus was on throwing and catching, with children using a range of equipment to develop accuracy and control, while also learning about aiming games and how to move safely and sensibly within a shared space.
