Year 1 Geography

Lesson: Geography

Class: Year 1CW Year: 2025 - 2026

This term, our topic has been People and Their Communities. The children began by identifying that we live in England and learning that the United Kingdom is made up of four countries. We then explored the seven continents and the seven oceans, developing our ability to locate and identify them on a world map. As part of this learning, the children discovered that different continents experience different climates, including hot regions, and learned that Africa is located close to the equator. We also explored important geographical features such as the Amazon Rainforest in South America. Through discussions, the children compared similarities and differences between their own homes and mud houses in Mali. To conclude the topic, the children created travel documents in preparation for a role-play journey to New York City in North America, sharing their travel experiences and identifying different modes of transport used to travel to both near and distant places.

Who we are

We look to provide a safe, secure, stimulating Christian environment in which all our children feel happy and valued as individuals, and where they can learn and play to the best of their abilities, and therefore reach their full potential.
