Year 3's Trip To Blackpool Sea Life Centre, by Mrs Gill

Date: 17th May 2023 @ 3:11pm

An amazing day was had by all of us when we visitied Blackpool. We explored the sea life centre, finding out about all the different fish and creatures that live  in and around the sea and coast. In the sea life centre we saw a turtle called Phoenix. Did you know that turtles can live up to 200 years old? Phoenix is just a baby at 23!

Afterwards we ventured on to the coast and carried out an alphabet hunt to see what we could find. We found lots of shells, crabs, jellyfish and seaweed. Have a look at some of our pictures

KS2 Christmas Production, by Miss Hulse

Date: 12th Dec 2022 @ 3:43pm

KS2 performed a fantastic production of Silent Night.

Silent Night is a delightful children's nativity set in 19th century Austria, where the villagers of Oberndorf are busy preparing for their Christmas Eve pageant. Amidst the hustle and bustle, they realise that naughty mice have destroyed the church organ. How will they organise music for their special celebrations at such short notice?

Discover through this beautifully adapted story how a poem written by a parish priest resulted in the well-loved carol Silent Night.

Carol Concert, by Miss Hulse

Our Geography topic this half term is about Climates and biomes of the world.  One of the biomes the children  looked at this week has been  our deciduous forest biome and the temperate climate. To understand the climate better we took a walk around the Woodland Walk and the school grounds, looking at the deciduous trees, how they change colour and lose their leaves based on which season it is, plants and animal life  ( flora and fauna ) which may be living there too.  They  understood the reason that there wasn't much plant life was because of the Winter season and that the animals were hibernating.Although they did spot a few birds in the trees.

Date: 10th Feb 2020 @ 12:37pm

What an amazing day Year 3 had when they  went to Tatton Park on Friday 31st January 2020. The purpose of the visit was to consolidate the childrens  History knowledge of our topics - StoneAge, Bronze Age and the Iron Age.

The children participated in 4 activities during the day - hunter gathering/ corn grinding, the use of different tools and the quality of the tools changed due to different materials being available at the time. We also looked at shelter building and weaponry, which was used then and some of them still in use today.

All in all it was a fabulous hands on experience for the children, who as always surpassed themselves with their knowledge of the topic and their attitude to wanting to learn even more!
