Deva Roman Discovery Centre, by Miss Wilkinson
Date: 17th Mar 2023 @ 6:47pm
Year 3 had an amazing trip to the Roman Discovery Centre in Chester. The children were transported back to the time of the Romans, where they travelled across the sea to the North of Brittania, to the Roman Fortress of Deva! We met a veteran of the legion who put us through our paces and had us working together as a team to become the finest soldiers the world has ever seen! The Roman soldier marched us through Chester chanting as we went, carrying shields ready to create Roman military formations. Take a look at some of the pictures and videos of the day!

We also began to think about Lent and Ash Wednesday in rediness for our next visit from the Vicar.
KS2 Christmas Production, by Miss Hulse
Date: 12th Dec 2022 @ 3:43pm
KS2 performed a fantastic production of Silent Night.
Silent Night is a delightful children's nativity set in 19th century Austria, where the villagers of Oberndorf are busy preparing for their Christmas Eve pageant. Amidst the hustle and bustle, they realise that naughty mice have destroyed the church organ. How will they organise music for their special celebrations at such short notice?
Discover through this beautifully adapted story how a poem written by a parish priest resulted in the well-loved carol Silent Night.
Carol Concert, by Miss Hulse
Date: 12th Dec 2022 @ 3:40pm
We had a beautiful carol concert this morning, with all the children singing a mixture of traditional carols. This reminded us of the true meaning of Christmas.
Manchester United Player Led Competition, by Miss Kyte
Date: 5th Dec 2022 @ 1:59pm
Last week, seven Year Five and Six pupils were chosen to represent St Peters at a football tournament held by Manchester United Academy. The tournament was player led meaning that the team had to manage themselves in terms of formation, substitutions and game strategy. The tournament also had a World Cup theme and the country we were chosen to represent was Brazil. The boys played a range of teams and all of our players were fantastic. Their determination, competitiveness and sportsmanship throughout the competitition was impeccable. Well done boys!
Cross Country Competition, by Miss Kyte
Date: 1st Nov 2022 @ 5:50pm
Before half term six children from Years Five and Six represented St Peters Church of England Primary School in a cross country event at Fallinge Park High school. The event consisted of lots of primary schools from the Rochdale borough and was a mix of both boys and girls races. The children each ran 2 kilometers on a track that had been set up on Fallinge Park school field. Despite the cold and windy conditions, each pupil performed excellently and they all confidently completed the cross country run within the alloted time. Well done!

This was pretty tricky but we tried our best and got better as time went on. Then we had our ice-cream which was scrummy!

3H in Blackpool! Our coastlines trip 20.05.22, by Miss Healey
Date: 23rd May 2022 @ 9:49am
We had such a wonderful time in Blackpool! We saw so many underwater creatures that inhabit our coastlines. We learnt a cool trick where if the glass was cold to touch that meant the animals lived in our UK waters, if it was slightly warmer, they didn't. It was very interesting comparing these animals' features. We found Phoenix the sea turtle and learnt that despite being 24 stone, she was just a baby! (A 22 year old baby because sea turtles can live to over a hundred years old!) We then went out to the beach, we saw some of the tourist attractions and other things that bbring people to the coast. We found loads of cool seashells and brought them back to school, then we watched as the tide came in. We had so much fun!
Our completed frog life cycle! Year 3, by Miss Healey
Date: 26th Apr 2022 @ 4:00pm
Last half term we began our frog life cycle with putting frogspawn in our pond and keeping some in our classroom to observe over the next few weeks. We noted lots of changes and watched as our frogspawn became tadpoles, then froglets with hind legs, fore legs and finally a distinguished head. Once we came back after the Easter holidays, we found the tails of our froglets had disappeared and our tiny little frogs were sat on the rocks out of the water breathing air! We then went to our pond, placing them gently back in their natural habitat. Hopefully we will get new frogspawn next Spring to fully complete our cycle. Take a look at our little frogs!

Chester Romans Trip 3H 11.03.2022, by Miss Healey
Date: 18th Mar 2022 @ 2:07pm
We had a fantastic time in Chester. We looked at real Roman artefacts and lots of museum galleries. We had a workshop where we got to act out and find out lots of things as well as dress up like the people of that time! We even got to meet a Roman soldier! We marched around the streets of Chester with him dressed as Roman soldiers. We went to the real Roman amphitheatre in Chester and practised some army drills where we saw and recreated the Roman army's battle strategies!

Geography biome fieldwork 3H, by Miss Healey
Date: 26th Jan 2022 @ 4:11pm
This half term we have been looking at climates and biomes of the world. This week we looked at our temperate climate and our deciduous forest biome. We looked at the deciduous trees (trees that change colour and lose their leaves based on the season) in our school grounds. We also looked at the signs we have for the flora (plant life) and fauna (animal life) and thought of reasons we may not have been able to spot many of these. We decided upon the weather, most of the animals would be hibernating this time of year and the plants will begin to grow in the Spring/Summer time - we linked this back to our climate being temperate. We did make sure we walked super quietly though and we managed to spot a few birds native to our climate! Take a look at some of our pictures.
