Being the Good Soil, by Mrs Perry

The children have been learning about the Parable of the Sower and exploring the story of The Good Soil. Through thoughtful discussions, we considered how we can be like the good soil in our St Peter’s school community by being kind, caring, helpful and listening to others. The children shared their ideas about how we can help ourselves and others to grow and flourish through our everyday actions. We also enjoyed exploring the tuff tray with our friends, developing our communication, cooperation and sharing skills through play.
Orla Kiely Inspired African Prints, by Mrs Perry

The children have been creating vibrant, Orla Kiely-inspired artwork using bright, bold colours and repeating shapes. Taking inspiration from African prints and patterns, they explored how different shapes and colours can be combined to create eye-catching designs. The children experimented with pattern, colour and repetition to produce their own unique pieces of artwork, developing their creativity and artistic skills along the way.
History: Human Timeline, by Mrs Perry

The children have been learning about the human timeline, exploring how people change and grow throughout their lives. They enjoyed ordering pictures to show the different stages of human development, from babies to older adults. Through lots of discussion, they developed their understanding of the timeline and learned new vocabulary to describe each stage. The children shared their ideas, made observations and used their growing vocabulary to explain their thinking.
Magnet Investigation, by Mrs Perry

The magnetic investigation was carried out to explore how magnets attract or repel certain objects. The children were given a selection of everyday objects and magnets and were encouraged to predict which objects would be attracted to the magnet. They tested each object practically, observed what happened, and recorded their results by sorting the objects into two groups: magnetic and non-magnetic. The children discussed their findings and compared their predictions with the actual results, developing their observation, prediction and recording skills through hands-on exploration.

Today Year 6 used someone else's scratch program to 'remix' it for themselves. It helped to understand different forms of online communication
Crucial Crew, by Miss Robinson

Today, we visited Crucial Crew. We went around lots of different stations learning about how to keep ourselves safe. The Transport Police taught us about the dangers of playing near the train tracks, the nurses taught us about how important it is to get 9-11 hours of sleep. They also told us to stay away from screens and sugary drinks before bed! The Metrolink staff taught us about antisocial behaviour and how to stay safe when travelling. We then saw Victim Services who helped us sort through myths and facts about mental health and online safety. GMP taught us about cyberbullying and what to do if we see something online we dont like and Rochdale Council taught us about littering. It was a fantastic morning and we learnt so much!

This week in Year 6 we used clay to created our own fossils. It was great to see the children to apply their learning from science to create them.

This half term in RE, we are thinking about our big question 'Creation and science: conflicting or complementary?' We began by looking at Genesis 1 and how God created the universe in 7 days. We created stained-glass windows to represent different days of Genesis. We are now looking at the Big Bang theory as a scientific explaination. We created short performances in groups to show what happened.

Everyone in school gathered together to celebrate the Star of the Year Assembly. The teachers had the difficult decision of choosing one pupil who had really stood out this year. It was fantastic to hear all of the wonderful reasons the children had been chosen.

Year 6 celebrated the end of their time at St. Peter's with their Leaver's Disco. It was fantastic to see them all dancing, singing and celebrating with their friends.

Year 6 put on a fantastic production of Matilda! Their acting, singing and speaking was amazing and their hard work and dedication to the production over the last few weeks really shone through. We are so proud of this brilliant achievement!
Growing Garden, by Mrs Williams

This term, the whole school has been ivolved in planting a wondeful variety of vegetables that will be ready to harvest in the autumn term. Our Earth Stewards and Gardening Club have worked hard to prepare the growing beds by weeding and waterin gthem, ensuring they were ready for the arrival of different vegetable plugs. together the children planted carrots, leeks, cauliflowers, broad beans, French beans, radishes, beetroot, onions and spinach. Each year group is responsible for mainting both their vegetablebed and their allocated fruit bed, which was planted in previous years, making sure they are kept well watered during this glorious sunshine.
It has been fantatsic to hear so many children sharing that they grow their own fruit and vegetables at home and enjoying producing their own healthy food. Activities like these help develop an understanding of where food comes from, encouraging healthy eating, and inspiring them to care for the environment.
The children throuroughly enjoyed taking part in this project and are excited toobserve their plants grow over the summer and see the results hen they retun in September. We can't wait to harvest the vegetables in the sutumn and celebrate everyone's hard. well done to all the children, our Earth Stewards and the Gardening Club for their entusiasm, teamwork and dedication to caring for our school garden. Well done St Peter's!

Year 6 had a brilliant day celebrating Learn, Love and Grow Together Day. They created some gratitude jars to reflect on what was important in their lives. They really enjoyed washing cars in the sunshine and playing traditional board games together.

Year 6 had a brilliant day at Whalley Abbey. They participated in activities where they were reflecting on their journey through St Peter's Primary School and looked ahead to their new journey at high school. We were very proud of all of them and how fantastically they represented the school.

Year 6 had a wonderful afternoon at Manchester Cathderal to celebrate their Leaver's Mass. They reflected on their time at primary school and looked forward to their new adventure at high school. They worshipped, sang and danced all afternoon!

All children enjoyed their last visit to St Chad's Church for this academic year. The brilliant service, which was led by the Year 5 Worship Leaders, was all about the Holy Trinity. The children were great representatives of St Peter's.

Year 6 enjoyed a brilliant workshop this morning. They discussed how anxiety can a helpful and unhelpful emotion and startegies they could use to help them when they are feeling anxious. They discussed 'what if' questions and how they could be prepared for their move to high school in September.

Year 6 had a wonderful time today planting in the growing beds. They used perseverance and teamwork to make sure the plants would grow with great success!
