Chinese New Year in Nursery, by Mrs Andrews

We have been learning all about the 'Chinese New Year' celebration, also known as the Lunar New Year, 2024 is the year of the dragon! We had fun cooking and tasting noodles, using chopsticks to eat them. We made a dragon and performed a dragon dance. We even had a go at doing some Chinese writing! For our home learning challenge, we had to make a Chinese lantern.

Year 5 Ranger Visit, by Miss Healey

In preparation for our Earth Day art project, we had a visit from a Ranger who had lots of interesting and informative activities for us. We first went on a scavenger hunt for information about the damage specific types of litter have on our wildlife, then we used our clues to solve an anagram. We did a litter pick and then learnt all about the timeline of how long things take to rot and degrade when thrown away and put into landfill. We were extremely surprised at some of these answers, especially disposable nappies and styrofoam! What a great learning opportunity!

Athletics Festival, by Miss Kyte

Children from Year Five and Six competed in the Atheltics Festival hosted and organised by Kingsway Park High School. The children participated in lots of different activities such as javelin, long jump, triple jump, chest throw and relay races. Each child performed brilliantly and did our school proud!

Nursery Exploring the Snow, by Mrs Andrews

We had great fun exploring and playing in the snow. We made snowballs, snow angels and made marks using sticks. It was so cold, we had to wear our hats, gloves and scarves.

WOW Church Synod, by Mrs Brandwood

Today, Elisia and Hassan represented our school at our half-termly WOW Church meeting held at Milnrow Parish CE School. Here, we discussed the results from our plastic survey sent out to the churches and parishes in Rochdale and came up with an action plan of how we plan to support our churches to become more environmentally friendly places. We also discussed an exciting opportunity to create our own environmentally friendly collective worship song which we are all looking forward to recording at our next meeting!

We had great fun at our Christmas party. We danced, played games and had some delicious food to eat. We even had a special visitor, Father Christmas came and gave us all a present!

Nursery's Walk to the Post Box, by Mrs Andrews

We went for a walk to the local post box to post a letter to Father Christmas. We also posted some of our teacher's Christmas cards and letters for them! We looked at all the things we could see along the way, some of us even saw our own houses!

3G's Trip To the Catalyst Museum, by Mrs Gill

On Tuesday 5th December 2023, Year 3 went the the Catalyst Museum. They particicapated in two workshops. One was about Light and the second one was about Rocks and volcanoes. These workhsops linked to the work we have been doing in Science this Autumn term. The children thoroghlu enjoyed themselves and had an amazing day.

Three children took part in a cross country race at Fallinge Park High school last week. They ran 2km around the school field and each child comlpeted the race! They all ran amazingly and we are very proud!

Football Tournament - Hopwood Hall, by Miss Kyte

St Peters school football team recently took part in a football tournament at Hopwood Hall college. Our team consisted of Year Five and Six children who attend our weekly football club ran by Mr Kime. The children played four matches against Year Five and Six children from ten other Rochdale schools. Our team won three of their matches and lost one. We then played in the semi-final and secured third place! Each of the children displayed fantastic footballing ability and their cofidence and enjoyment was excellent to see. Each child recieved a certificate and medal for securing third place, well done team! :)

3G Class Assembly, by Mrs Gill

3G's Class assembly was all about God's presence and how we could feel it in our everyday life. The children explained this aspect through the Story of Papa Panov. Well done on your first assembly for this school year.. You were all amazing! .

The children in 2W had an amazing trip to Eureka this week! We enjoyed learning about the human body and all the 'gross' things that come out of our bodies. The children had fun exploring the many areas within the museum by learning through play. Take a look at some of the pictures from this fantastic day.

Class 2B have had a wonderful day at Eureka! We have learnt all about the human body and how it works to look after us, including all the gross things at the gross lab!

We enjoyed exploring the 'Living things' section, carrying out experiments and testing our skills with modern technology. We also found time to play in the 'Real world' areas including the role play shops, banks and post offices.

Legoland Trip - November 2023, by Mrs Anderson

We had a wonderful day at Legoland for our Autumn trip. We took part in a Spinning Top workshop where we created spinning tops and launchers to make our spinners spin for as long as possible! We went on the rides at Legoland before exploring the different activities that we could do there. We all had such a fun day!

This half term we have been learning all about nocturnal animals, starting with the sotry 'Owl Babies'. We were so excited to have some real owls visit us in school! We listened really carefully to all of the facts that the lady told us and watched them fly across the hall! We were also able to hold the owls, take a look at the photos!
