Ordsall Hall

Lesson: History

Class: Year 4R Year: 2024 - 2025

We have had an absolutely fantastic day at Ordsall Hall! The day began meeting Lady Agatha Radclyffe and Martha the Maid. They taught us all about traditional Tudor feasts including the Lord, Lady and their friends, the jester, the local merchants and the farmers. Lady Agatha then took us to learn all about Lord Radclyffes work as both a knight and the sheriff. We were able to try on some armour and learned the punishment for crimes. We then made our own purfume pouches just like the Tudors would wear, filled with lavander, clove and rose. Martha the Maid put us to work making a special seasoning in the kitchen. We had to grind down salt and peppar, grate nutmeg and cinnamon and mix together with ginger. It was hard work! The day ended learning some traditional Tudor dances!
