Odd Socks Day
Lesson: Understanding the World
Class: Rec P Year: 2025 - 2026
In Reception, we had a wonderful time celebrating Odd Socks Day, linking it to Down Syndrome awareness and supporting Rochdale and District Down Syndrome Support Group (often known as Rochdale DS All Stars). The children came to school wearing bright, mismatched socks and enjoyed learning that everyone is unique and special in their own way. We talked about kindness, inclusion, and how our differences make us amazing. As part of the day, we decorated our own socks with colourful patterns, glitter, and stickers, proudly showing our creativity. We also helped to raise money for the group, learning that even small actions can make a big difference in supporting others. It was a fun and meaningful day that celebrated diversity and encouraged empathy in our classroom.
