Year 6 - Art Educational Visit – Moving Figures – Lowry, by Miss Hulse

Year 6 visited The Lowry in Salford to look at the collection of Laurence Stephen Lowry’s work. This provided the children with a critical and curatorial analysis of his work and the children were able to focus on moving figures.

Year 6 - History Educational Visit – What was life like for children during WW2?, by Miss Hulse

Year 6 visited The Imperial War Museum North in Salford to learn more about what life was like during WWI and WWII. The children focussed on the impact of war for children and how the effects changed lives.

Today we have the most amazing trip. We went to see the Lovell telescope at Jodrell Bank. We learnt so much information about Earth, Space and the planets! We went on a virtual tour of space in the Space Dome which was mindblowing!

Year 6 had a lovely afternoon, we used clay to create a 3D form that conveyed movement. The children did a brilliant job!

Year 6 had a great time at Crucial Crew this monring! Crucial Crew is a multi-agency safety education program for children, that uses interactive scenarios to teach life skills.

Yesterday, Year 6 had a lovely visit to Nelson Street Church. We heard about the story of Esther, read out our prayers on courage and bravery and enjoyed singing and dancing along to different hymns. 

Year 6 Macmillan Coffee Morning, by Miss Hulse

Year 6 really enjoyed taking part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning,  the children very generously brought in £1 donation and kindly provided biscuits - so for this we say a big thank you! The children really enjoyed sharing a biscuits and juice together with their friends.

Year 6 did a fantastic job being palaeontologist, the children had to excavate the chocolate chip from a cookie without breaking them.

Within our Year 6 R.E topic, we have been looking at Creation and Science, thinking about the conflicting and complementary views. Today, the children looked at the Big Bang Theory and create a drama to show the theory.

The children really enjoyed looking at fossils today, we looked at belemnites, ammonites, devil’s toenails (gryphaea), sea sponges and sea urchins and shark’s teeth. The children then designed their own fossil and made them out of clay. 

6H - Class Collective Worship, by Miss Hulse

6H did a fantastic job yesterday with their class assembly, the children spoke with such clear voice, sang beautifully and their action was amazing. The children had thought hard about making a good start to the new school year ahead, we discussed having a resurrection mindset and shared positive posters with the audience.

Year 6 had a lovely day today, meeting their special friend. Year 6 children made cards for their new friends and then got to spend the afternoon getting to know them.

D.T Controllable Vehicles - Year 6, by Miss Hulse

Today, we used our design from the previous lesson to help guide in the making of our controllable vehicle. Also used our science knowledge of circuits to help when creating the circuit.

Live, Love, Grow Together Day - Year 6, by Miss Hulse

Last Fridat, Year 6 had the best time on Live, Love, Grow Together Day. The children play traditional board games, took part in a car wash and made gratatude jars. A great day!

Year 6 had a lovely morning today with our Careers Guidance morning, we were visited by Hopwood Hall College, Rochdale Football Club, Mohammed Saqib, Fire Service and Hannah Owens – Illustrator/Books Designer

Year 6 had a wondrful time on Friday, celebrating St Peter's Day! We really enjoyed our yummy ice creams and laughing along witht eh entertainer!

Year 6 were very lucky to take part in the Beyond Workshop with Rick Otto this morning, the children had such a lovely time reflection on their time at St Peter’s and thinking about their move to high school and all the emotions that come with it.  

Year 6 Leavers Service, by Miss Hulse

Year 6 visited Manchester Cathedral to celebrate their Leavers Mass with other schools from the Manchester Diocese. The children created prayer chains, which were proudly displayed in the Cathedral, and a prayer box for the next Year 6 children. They participated in the songs and dances and had a great time celebrating their primary school years. 

Year 6 - Science - Electricity, by Miss Hulse

In Science today, we used the sensometer to measure the brightness of the bulb. We saw this from the sensor moving to a larger number, for example 73 lux and went to 350 lux. The things that effected the data collector was if we added more batteries to brighten the bulb or moved the bulb closer to the sensor. The equipment could also measure sound and temperature.

Year 6 - DT Hats - May 2025, by Miss Hulse

Today, Year 6 designed a three-dimensional piece of headwear based on a character. The children, used card as their basic structure then they used different materials to add their design onto their headwear. Well done Year 6, they all looked incredible!

Year 6 had a lovely time all celebrating together after our very busy SATs week! The children enjoyed the sunshine with ice cream.
