Year 5 were invited to the Bridge Water hall for a music festival which celebrated music from all around the world. We had a wonderful time, and we were even able to join in some of the songs!

Year 1 had a wonderful trip to Eureka museum last week. We loved exploring all the different areas and learning lots of scientific facts about our bodies in the 'All About Me' area. We had lots of fun in the 'Living and Working Together' area and learning about the world around us. 

Well done Year 1 for your fantastic behaviour and representing our school so well!

Mr. Bromley, who used to work at St. Peter's School, brought a class of children to visit us from his school in Kirkby Lonsdale. We had a lovely time making new friends and we took them to St. Peter's Church. Both sets of children enjoyed the visit, looking at the very special stained glass windows and singing together.

The children were travelling at high speed, through a forest or over a lake, suspended and harnessed from an overhead cable - it was truly exhilarating!

The children had to navigate and explore a series of underground tunnels of different shapes and sizes whilst solving problems and carrying out tasks.

The children had to build a raft that would float (and hopefully steer) using the barrels, ropes and wood provided. Once they were built teh children had to test the raft out on the water.

The children had the oportunity to race round a purpose built, off-road motorsports tracks and develop their skills in  safely! The children learnt how to operate a quad bike correctly.

A great way to explore the centre. We were given some practical map reading skills and then worked in small groups to locate control points around the centre grounds.

This is a giant size ladder that the children had to climb. The group had to use communication, teamwork and leadership skills together to have fun and scramble to the top of the ladder.

The children, got harnessed into a two seater swing as the rest of the group pulled the sing up to 10m high. The children then pulled a cord to send the swing hurtling down towards the ground before swinging up towards the sky.

On Friday 18th May, Year 4 fisted Thornham Cricket Club to play a tournament, in a round robin format, against 5 other local schools. The team won their last match coming 5th out of the six teams.They improved game on game taking on board the advice they were given.

Royal Wedding Celebration Day, by Mr Wood

On Friday 18th May, the whole school celebrated the holy matrimony of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The day began with a fun assembly by author and poet, Craig Bradely. Following this, the class teachers organised lots of fun activites with the children, culminating in a ‘Royal Wedding Picnic’ held outside in the school grounds. It was a lovely day!

Gallery Oldham Pattern and Print., by Mrs Cavill

Yesterday 22nd May 4C travelled to Oldham to visit Gallery Oldham . We met an artist called Faye and she showed us around the Gallery and we looked for patterns. We sketched the patterns into the book we had made and went back to the classroom with them. Next we drew our design onto a polysterene tile and use printing ink and a roller to print our design onto our cloth. Next term we will sew them and make them into tiny cushions. We had a lovely day and we were all, as usual, SUPER well behaved.

Scaling a Hogwarts bedroom, by Miss Nuttall

Today in Maths, the children were given the task to scale their own Hogwarts bedroom.  They were given a choice of furniture they could include, and they worked together to create their design.
